Detergent Removing Gel has a low affinity for proteins and extraordinarily high affinity for detergents commonly employed for solubilization of membrane proteins. The principle of the gel is a combination of a powerful detergent binding liquid attached to a small pure matrix which excludes proteins having a molecular weight greater than 10,000 daltons. Protein detergent samples from pH 3-10 are efficiently stripped of detergents using this gel. The presence of 100 micromoles of phosphate and or 200 micromoles of sodium chloride will greatly enhance detergent binding to the gel.
