SULFO NHS BIOTIN

(Biotinylation Reagent)

B102   Sulfosuccinimidobiotin
[ 119616-38-5 ]   f.w.: 443.4 daltons

Sulfo NHS Biotin is a short chain, water soluble biotinylation reagent for labeling antibodies, proteins and other molecules that have primary amines. The reagent biotinylates only surface proteins of whole cells because the negatively charged reagent does not permeate cell membranes. Sulfo NHS biotin is soluble in water. The charge of the sulfo NHS sodium salt increases the water solubility.

  • Sulfo NHS biotin biotinylates, amino acids, peptides or proteins under mild conditions
  • Sulfo NHS biotin biotinylates only surface proteins of whole cells because the negatively charged reagent does not permeate cell membranes
  • Soluble in water. The charge of the sulfo NHS sodium salt increases the water solubility
  • NHS biotin is used to biotinylate antibodies or other proteins for detection or purification using streptavidin probes or resin
  • Forms stable amide bonds therefore the reaction is not reversable. The spacer arm cannot be cleaved.
